Competency Register and Reporting
Developed by Phillipe Sanders-Agius Feb 2000, and updated October 2009 by Mary-Clare Turnbull.
This Competency Register provides space to register student achievement of Units and Elements of Competency, as well as produce an individual student report (including Work Placements attended) at any given time. This file allows for the entry of 25 student names. These are automatically repeated onto each page.

Information should only be entered into the ‘Assessment Plan’, Competency Register' , 'Work Placement Matrix', ‘Marks Book’ and the 'Teacher Comment' section of each ‘Student’ report.
Worksheets Include:

Assessment Plan: This provides space to enter the assessment tasks that have been developed to assess the units and elements of competency across the course. The spaces provided may be filled in with a block colour to indicate the mapping of units and elements against the tasks. The titles of the tasks will transfer across to the Marks Book.

Competency Register: Student names may be entered in the space provided. Enter the date competency is achieved for each element of competency in the spaces provided; C, PA, > or NYC in the 'All Elements achieved' space (this may be done using the drop down menu). At the time reports are required enter the date in the 'Report Date' space. If a date has been entered incorrectly, and needs to be deleted enter a ">" (greater than symbol) into the space. This is required each time otherwise an error (###) may occur in the cell.

Marks Book: The Marks Book provides the space to record if work has been submitted by students. It may also be used to record marks if you have assessed that way for a task in your Assessment plan. The tasks entered on the Assessment Plan will automatically be transferred to this page. The Exam Results section may be edited to be written as they are called at your school. The marks that are recorded in the column will transfer across to the student reports.

Units of Competency Summary: This page will automatically be generated to give a summary of the cohort results of the units of competency per student.

Work Placement Matrix: Student names will automatically transfer to this page from the Competency Register". Space is provided to enter the work placement dates and the name of the Host Employer for each placement. The last column provides space to enter the total number of hours students have completed to date.

Tabs for Student 1 to 25: These are the individual report pages for each student. You may double click on the worksheet tab to type the student's name for easy reference. (Sorry, not possible to automate this process). The information is obtained from the ‘Assessment Plan’, 'Competency Register’, ‘Marks Book’ and 'Work Placement Matrix' pages. The space at the top of each page is provided to electronically insert your school letterhead; or you may choose to print the report onto existing letterhead. It is important to enter the report date in the Competency Register page to ensure the date of the report is correct.
