TAFE
Teachers of Stage 6 students considering continuing their training at TAFE need to help students understand that they will receive credit for the work they have done.
  • A certificate achieved at school is recognised by TAFE.
  • A statement of attainment for particular competencies will be recognised by TAFE and students will not have to repeat this work.
Students with particular combinations of subjects may receive advanced standing for TAFE courses. For example, a student who had completed VET curriculum frameworks in IT and Hospitality, and had done Food Technology, would receive significant advanced standing in a diploma course.
The HSC Credit Transfer into TAFE NSW website provides comprehensive information on how HSC courses articulate to TAFE.
School careers advisers and TAFE advisers are important contacts for students considering pathways between school and TAFE.
